Rescue the Children Receives Donation from Guarantee Good Will Network

Representatives of Guarantee’s Good Will Network recently presented Rescue the Children with a check for $5,000.

The formerly vacant Vagabond Inn near Freeway 99 and Clinton has been transformed into a haven for women who otherwise may have no place else to go.  When at capacity, the facility will be home for up to 75 women and 100 children. A portion of the building provides an emergency shelter for temporary stays. The majority of the facility is a safe haven for families enrolled in a life-changing, 18 month program, with a minimum of 8 months in residence.

The program assists at risk mothers and children, especially those that are being abused. Also women and children in need of support because their spouse/father is currently enrolled in the Rescue Mission’s Academy Recovery program take refuge at the home. And women who need a safe place to reunite with their children after being released from jail or prison may enter the program.

The program’s focus is on sobriety, being a better mother, and becoming more self-sufficient. Assistance includes individual and group therapy, substance abuse recovery education, domestic violence education, life skills classes (family therapy, parenting, nutrition/wellness), vocational training and GED preparation, and an on-site center for children.

The Fresno Rescue Mission is expanding its services and will soon have a new program that will assist women and children.  The new program, called Rescue the Children, will be located at a recently purchased facility, the former Vagabond Inn near Freeway 99 and Clinton.  On September 15th, representatives of the Guarantee Good Will Network met with Rescue Mission CEO, Rev. Larry Arce, to present a check for $1,750 to support this new program.

Rescue the Children is currently remodeling the facility and expects to open their doors for residents in early 2012.  When at capacity, the facility will be home for up to 75 women and 100 children.  A portion of the building will provide an emergency shelter for temporary stays.  The majority of the facility will be a safe haven for families enrolled in a life-changing, 18 month program, with a minimum of 8 months in residence.
