An Olympian From the Start
Alice Brown-Harris – A three time US Olympian, was raised in Southern California. After graduating from John Muir High School, she earned a B.A. from California State University Northridge.
At the age of 11, Alice began to dream big through her love for sports. In 1972, she watched her first Olympic games on TV and with amazement she thought, “I’m going there!” Alice excelled at various different activities like softball, but found herself most comfortable with running. Alice lived for running, and she set her sight on achieving the opportunity to compete internationally. In 1980, Alice’s dream became a reality when she earned a spot on the US Olympic Team. Unfortunately, this would be bittersweet. Since the US declined to participate in the Moscow Olympic Games, Alice’s hope to earn a medal temporarily diminished.
In Alice’s opinion, a setback is only a setup for a better opportunity to do something greater. In the 1984 Olympics, she was the first leg of the United States women’s 4x100m relay team, which won gold in Los Angeles. She won silver in the 100m dash in the same Olympic games. At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, history was made when the US women’s 4x100m relay team won gold for the second consecutive Summer Olympic games — this time with the quartet of Alice Brown, Sheila Echols, Florence Griffith-Joyner, and Evelyn Ashford.
After retiring from athletics, Alice worked for the California Department of Corrections. In 2015, she retired from her position with the State, and in 2017 she began a new career in Real Estate.
Why Choose a Career in Real Estate?
“My career choices were influenced by those who helped me through all of my rough patches…I may not have been as successful had I not received the support of family and friends who loved me through it all,” explained Alice. Selling real estate gives Alice an opportunity to help others.
Alice takes pride in her new profession as a Realtor®. The same hard work, tenacity, and dedication that she embraced over the years as an Olympian is what she brings to her clients at Guarantee Real Estate.
“I assure my clients that I’ll do my best to bring them the GOLD, because I leave no rock unturned!”
